This is Day of Defeat: Source, and is by far my favorite title to sit down and play. It supports up to 32 players and is by far considered a first-person shooter. The source at the end of title is the current engine that the game is powered by. It was developed by Valve software company and is an awesome game. Basically there are different maps, even some that are in the history books, it is a World War II simulation. One team starts at the end of the map and the other team starts at the other. Soon both teams are enthrauled in action while fighting for points (flags), throughout the map. The graphics look amazing, and I haven't even tested them out through any real power. In fact I would say that this is Valve's best FPS-realisim game. Here you will actually feel the explosion on the screen, or the actual power of the M1 Garand. Some like to play the game to its most real exctinct and have even led to the formation of clans. This is basically a team that establishes throughout the servers, who practice many days and nights. They do this not only for the passion, but at times there will be tournaments that they can compete in!
This is an actual screen-shot that I took the menu to the right can be turned off, but since I've been having issues I turned it on! As you can see the MP40 has quiet some detail to it, and I'm rending it at 500x500 pixels; yet took the screen-shot at 1024x768! |
This is another great title from Valve, and I would have to acclaim this to gaining the popularity of multiplaying, FPShooters in the gaming community. The original Counter-strike has been released retail since, 2000 and this predecessor hit the market in 2004. There were many improvements upon the game, such as better recoil more a better feel of the weapons. "Bunny Hopping" or the timed jumping of a player to better their speed around the map had been elimnated. There was the introduction of Valves Hammer Editor map, formerly known as the Worldcraft which was supported by Quake I and II. This allowes many users to build their own custom map and is accessible as long as the user has downloaded Source SDK. This game has been heavily modded by the community so there are many different versions of one game due to the use of skins for models and weapons. There are different scenarios throughout the game from defusing a bomb, to hostage rescue(don't worry the hostages are AI) that way no one gives up any game play, and even Assasination. There has even been a game mode added through modding known as Zombie, where one team is hunted down by the other. The main difference between the two mentioned titles are when you die in Counter-Strike you must wait for the round to end, while in DOD you respawn until the team has all flags.
